Recent assignments, in reverse chronological order, have included:

Phoenix Group Edited Solvency II Internal Model documents for this major insurance company in preparation for their IMAP application to the Financial Services Authority. Responsible for ensuring the development of clear, concise and high-quality copy. Used MS Office products, including Word and Excel.
Huawei Documentation consultancy in Germany for this Chinese telecommunications company. Advised on documentation processes and procedures. Edited and gave detailed feedback on various marketing, training and technical documents.
Financial Services Authority Co-ordinated a security awareness project, which addressed all 3500 FSA staff. The campaign’s purpose was to raise awareness of security-related issues (physical and IT) for all staff members. Created a detailed project plan, after discussion and agreement with all stakeholders. Monitored the plan against targets and amended when necessary. Stakeholder/relationship management: with external security consultancy (arranged meetings to mediate on behalf of FSA), with contractors and with FSA staff, including senior management, team leaders and others, in security, internal communications, branding, press office, conference facilities and information services departments. Created a multiple-choice survey (questionnaire). Tested the survey (enlisted testers). Used the test results to improve the survey. Co-ordinated the design of a home page for the security awareness website with all stakeholders. Wrote motivational articles for the FSA intranet, encouraging all staff members to participate in the survey. Arranged for review and sign-off of all work. Discussed and agreed the use of suitable internal communications media. Obtained contract extension.
Royal Bank of Scotland Wrote new text and edited existing material for internal user guides on information security issues, to improve staff awareness. Formatted these guides appropriately. Liaised with senior management. Used MS Word.
Red Bee Media Managed IT Department documentation for this media content company (formerly BBC Broadcast). Compiled iPlayer Architecture documents (both high-level and detailed design), created new text and diagrams, augmented and edited existing text. Created high-level architecture diagrams for seven different environments (BBC and RBM). Liaised with technical staff, business analysts, project leaders, line managers and other RBM staff. MS Office, Visio, SharePoint.
Clifford Chance Co-ordinated a project to create a central IT document register for 100+ IT staff in the UK, Germany, France and Netherlands. The project benefits included reduced risk, increased efficiency and added value to the firm. Communicated directly with all these staff by setting up face-to-face meetings with small groups. Explained the purpose of the project, how the work was to proceed, what was expected of them and by when. Facilitated progress by appointing and meeting weekly with Action Leaders from each group. Created a mindmap of the knowledge framework, a structured list of subject categories (classification scheme), an annotated list of meta-data types, and a repository for project documents. Also created a presentation for an off-site management meeting. Liaised with senior management, team leaders and technical specialists. Used MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint.
Bluecube Wrote design specification for news stories requirements for Duke of Edinburgh’s Award system. Advised on documentation techniques. Used MS Word, Excel, Visio.
Credit Suisse Wrote support documentation for a Finacle Treasury FpML interface. Designed business requirements templates for capturing high-level requirements, data specifications, business rules and use cases. Created a comprehensive classification system to organise a knowledge base. Researched and advised on different wiki technologies. Used MoinMoin wiki, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.
BNP Paribas Proposed, discussed, agreed and implemented a viable wiki structure with senior management and with team leaders,created and improved page templates, migrated a
substantial amount of content to the new structure using the new and updated templates, identified areas for further improvement, arranged for content review, set up a progress tracking system, liaised with staff responsible for upgrading the wiki software, fostered good working relationships with BNPP staff.
Vodafone Responsible for the creation, update, ongoing control (using SharePoint) and handover of documentation, including a network infrastructure map and a support guide, for a large-scale project based on Remedy. Liaised with project management and with technical staff.

Researched specifications for software product interfaces and wrote an overview for new starters, thus saving management time and improving system supplier relationship. Implemented Web 2.0 project management and collaboration system. Liaised with senior management of C&W and of system supplier.
Advenzia Liaised with senior management and staff, interviewed clients and wrote up case studies for this web design and development company, saving management time and enabling them to gain Business Link accreditation.
I&DeA Wrote new IT policies and procedures for the Improvement and Development Agency, satisfying internal review requirements. Liaised with the IT Director and other staff at all levels. Created work tracking system and document templates.
Unilever Worked for a large project that brought about huge savings for Unilever. Created and amended diagrams and wrote associated text for Accounting and Finance process flows for a SAP implementation (MIS). Liaised with Unilever staff and consultants to gather information.
T-Mobile Project within Corporate Operations to greatly increase group efficiency. Researched and reported on (a) documentation skills and roles, delegation of work,
information use and potential reuse, collaborative working and (b) a single-source solution for authoring and publishing documents to clients. Compiled comprehensive glossary of terms. Identified and compiled a list of internal information sources of data.
Global Beach To enable new development work and to ensure business continuity, drafted and edited a functional specification for an existing car dealership web services application (MIS). Designed a general template for IT project documents. Gathered information from existing sales and technical documents, the existing system, developers, client account managers, and senior management including Directors. Managed the review process. Mentored staff in documentation techniques.
